Alaccordion looks the value bet in the Novices' Handicap Hurdle at 3.35 Southwell and can get the better of hot favourite Barton Rose.
Violet Jordan's Alaccordion had been ticking along nicely in the Spring of 2013 with a trio of placed efforts at Fontwell and doesn't look to be in the handicappers grasp just yet. Skybet and William Hill are quoting best odds of 11/2 about today's selection and that looks like value with other firms as short as 4/1.
Alaccordion made a winning return after a lengthy lay-off when finishing strongest in a nine runner contest over course and distance a month ago and only has a 6lb rise to cope with returning to Southwell today. The nine-year-old gelding picked up well under Charlie Poste who is back in the saddle today and looked to have plenty in reserve at the winning post, so the jockey should be able to get the best out of his ride again today.
Market leader Barton Rose has gone up 7lb for an impressive win at Plumton a week ago and while still entitled to respect has to concede weight to all of her rivals today. Alaccordion is likely to strip even fitter after stretching his legs over track and trip last time and can get the better of the mare with a run under his belt.
