John Ferguson's Purple Bay looks every bit the one to beat in the Toteexacta Pick The 1st And 2nd Handicap Hurdle at 4.50 Taunton today.
Yesterday's tip ran a good race and was unlucky to go down by just half a length, but hopefully we can go one better with Purlple Bay. The mount of Jack Quinlan today, Purple Bay faired well in bumpers winning on his debut under Denis O'Regan and placing twice before getting a head in front at the first time of asking over hurdles. That Win came at today's distance at Stratford-on-Avon and was followed up by success over 2m at Musselburgh, but the 5-year-old was not at his best when quickly turned out at Haydock a fortnight later.
Purple Bay was then sent handicapping and was unlucky to narrowly miss out by a length to the improving Makari at Doncaster and a repeat of that effort over today's trip looks strong enough to provide a win today. Odds of 15/8 with Boylesports are the best around at the moment and it could pay to act fast as the money has been flooding in this morning for Purple Bay who should go well after a break.
