Marco Botti's Tac De Boistron can get the better of warm favourite Harris Tweeed in the Longines Sagaro Stakes at 3.45 Ascot today.
Dual course and distance winner Simenon is not to be taken lightly if running to the same level of his runner-up effort in the Gold Cup at the Royal meeting, but a below-par run at Meydan last month makes backing the mount of Ryan Moore a risky proposition and it's the two at the head of the market which are likely to fight this race out today.
Both Harris Tweed and Tac De Boistron return from lengthy layoffs and the former is likely to attempt to make all from the front which could play into the hands of Marco Botti's charge, who is a 7/2 chance with Bet365. Tac De Boistron won twice last season, in the Stand Cup at Chester and in the French St Leger at Longchamp with a runner-up effort at the same course in between those successes and the booking of Frankie Dettori looks to be significant.
Harris Tweed has claims of his own having almost landed a course and distance success when runner-up in the Group 3 Long Distance Cup when last seen in October, but Tac De Boistron can match the front-runner for pace and is likely to make a timely challenge for the lead under the guidance of Dettori.
