With a lot in his favour, the Betfred City Bowl Handicap can go the way of Albert Bridge at 2.20 Salisbury today.
The 6-year-old grey gelding makes his first start since re-joining trainer Ralph Beckett and can be backed at at odds of 4/1 with the sponsor, Bet365 and Betvictor for the 1m 6f Class 3 handicap.
A handicap winner over 1m5f at Ayr in 2012, Albert Bridge has twice gone close on the flat since and was last seen trouncing his rivals on heavy ground in a 2m hurdle at Plumpton for trainer Emma Lavelle in February. The selection has got his ground today and has the stamina to cope with the rising final stages at Salisbury which puts him in with a great chance of going one better than when second in this race two years ago.
Albert Bridge was only beaten a neck that day by Rockfella who re-opposes today and could be a danger from out of the handicap, but hasn't been close to winning in six starts since.
Market leader Ridgeway Storm races off a fair mark at the first attempt of handicapping and could be another threat, but the soft ground and testing run in play more to the strengths of Albert Bridge.
