Friday's Sky Bet Yorkshire Cup at 2.45 will see recent impressive Sagaro Stakes winner Tac de Boistron go off a warm favourite on the back of that five length victory over Earth Amber and Oriental Fox at Ascot and although the mount of Andrea Atzeni is easily the one to beat in the 1m 6f contest it could be worth taking a chance on the Ralph Beckett-trained Cubanita overturning last season's Chester form with Marco Botti's Take Risks gelding at the 15-2 available with the sponsor and Paddy Power.
The pair met in the Listed Stella Artois Stand Cup last September when Tac de Boistron ran out a convincing eight length winner over Cubanita but there are several reasons to suggest the 5-year-old mare can reverse the form on 2lb better terms. The ground on that occasion was very soft, conditions which suit the ex-French horse down to the ground and while the runner up handles plenty of cut she is not ground dependant unlike Marco Botti's charge who needs easy going to show his best. With the ground on the Knavesmire drying out by the hour the going could be close to good by the start of racing tomorrow afternoon.
Since that Chester run Cubanita has gone on to win both of her starts, beating Nichols Canyon by a length and three quarters in Newbury's St Simon Stakes last October and continued in the same vein on her seasonal reappearance when getting the better of Noble Mission at the same venue last month. With that horse going on to win his next two starts the form has a solid look to it and under what should be perfect conditions the mare looks sure to run a big race. Second favourite Gospel Choir will find this tougher than his recent Newmarket win where the odds on Trading Leather ran no sort of race while Seal Of Approval may just need this on her first run of the season.
