The Follow Redcarracing On Facebook & Twitter Handicap at 4.20 Redcar can go the way of veteran sprinter Tax Free today.
Having ran consistently well in four runs back on turf, a top price of 15/2 with Betvictor is hard to ignore about the David Nicholls-trained 12-year-old. Tax Free left a couple of below par runs over 6f on the All-Weather surface at Kempton behind when finishing a creditable fourth at Musselburgh in April and only found Red Baron too good at Doncaster a week later. The seasoned sprinter was then runner-up in a big field at Thirsk earlier this month off a rating of 83 and is back on that mark after finishing fourth at the same venue 10 days ago.
The handicapper could have been a little more lenient, but such is the consistency of the selection another bold bid can be expected.
Of the competitors Avon Breeze is feared most having narrowly missed out over course and distance last week, while Jack Luey was fourth and may have needed the run, so is also entitled to respect. Bronze Beau may try to set the pace, but Tax Free has been finishing his races well and can land a tenth career win over today's 5 furlong trip.
