The 5 furlong Class 4 Veterans Handicap at 3.30 Goodwood is tipped to go the way of Fair Value with Richard Hughes in the saddle.
Tipped at odds of 14/1 with Bet365 via our Twitter feed last night, the recommendation can still be backed at a reasonable price of 15/2 with the same firm, while William Hill and Coral are qutoting odds of 8/1. Sticking with Bet365 could be the way to go though, as a winning bet in the 3.30 Goodwood at odds of 4/1 or greater will earn you a risk-free bet on 4.05 Goodwood as part of their long-standing Feature Race 4/1 offer.
Fair Value has been running consistently this term, but may have moved too soon under Hayley Turner when weakening over course and distance a month ago. However the 6-year-old mare has been dropped 2lb which should put her bang in the mix if running to the same level of her pinultimate start when she was a close third behind Caspian Prince at Epsom, who has placed twice subsequently and scored again there yesterday. The Simon Dow-trained horse is a triple winner at this distance and will benifit greatly from the experience of jockey Richard Hughes today, who can steer her to success in a first time hood.
Slip Sliding away heads the betting having won over an extra furlong at this venue last month, but there are no guarantees the mount of Oisin Murphy will be as effective over today's shorter trip. Perhaps the biggest danger to the selection is Secret Millionaire who arrives on the back of a creditable runner-up effort at Brighton, although coping with a 2lb rise for that effort will be no easy task and Fair Value can make her presence felt.
