The Pegasus Pumps Ltd Fillies' Handicap at 8.35 Newbury is tipped to go the way of Asyad at the expense of warm favourite My Spirit.
The market leader is certainly entitle to respect, but has an 8lb rise in the weights to contend with after winning at Carlisle can be readily taken on with Asyad at the 11/2 available with most firms including Betvictor and Paddy Power.
Sir Michael Stoute's lightly raced filly made an encouraging debut under Frankie Dettori (back in the saddle today) when fourth over 7 furlongs at Salisbury in September and confirmed her promise when making all to comfortably score over a mile at Yarmouth in October. The 3-year-old has not been seen on a racecourse since, but an opening mark of 76 looks lenient enough and the step up in trip holds no fears on her handicap debut.
Gay Marriage could come on for her run at Sandown and may get involved for John Gosden, while Wahgah also looks nicely handicapped if converting her All-Weather form onto the turf. But the feeling is that there is plenty more to come from last time out winner Asyad and she is a confident selection at the current prices.
