The feature race on day 1 of the Northumberland Plate Festival is the Seaton Deleval Handicap, tipped to go the way of Dance and Dance at 3.30 Newcastle.
Heading the betting for the 1 mile test is Baraweez who is entitled to respect, but may have something to prove stepping up in class, while Dubai Dynamo is a consistent performer, but had a hard race at Ayr less than a week ago and that runner-up effort may have left a mark. Norse Blues has dropped below his last winning mark and should go close in an open race, but the one who looks to have slipped under the radar is Dance and Dance at best odds 6/1 with Betway.
The Ed Vaughan-trained 8-year-old hasn't had a head in front for a while, but has gone incredibly close on a number of occasions and looks well treated on the pick of his old form.
Usually held up, the selection led from the front over a mile at Newmarket on his penultimate start last month and was pipped at the post before going on to run with great credit in the Investec Mile at Epsom Downs. Dance and Dance stayed on well under pressure in a highly competitive race with an effort which belied the actual result and a reproduction of that run over a slightly reduced trip today should be more than enough to land the spoils.
