Dropping back in trip and nicely drawn, Ertijaal looks one to side with in the listed Queensferry Stakes at 3.05 Chester today.
The William Haggas-trained 3-year-old was tipped at 5/2 on our twitter feed earlier this morning and while that price is gone, punters can still get best odds of 9/4 with Coral.
The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owened colt built on the promise shown as a 2-year old to record back-to-back All-Weather victories at Lingfield earlier this year and was thrown into the 2000 Guineas on the back of those performances. Unfortunately Ertijaal only beat one horse home in the classic which was won by Night Of Thunder, but with first time blinkers fitted the horse put in a much better run on his handicap bow over 7 furlongs on Newmarket's July course last month and that headgear is retained today. The selection was only headed inside the final furlong after attempting to make all suggesting that today's drop in trip will suit perfectly from a handy berth in stall 4.

Body And Soul will need to bounce back quickly from a slightly below-par effort last time, while Dinkum Diamond has been fairly consistent this term, but has a penalty to overcome for his Doncaster win in March. Boomerang Bob will look to pounce at the finish after a creditable fifth in the Wokingham before running on late into third in a handicap over course and distance last month, but it's Ertijaal who has the most solid claims.
