Mass Rally is tipped to land the Listed Betfred Garrowby Stakes at 3.00 York on Sunday afternoon under jockey Paul Mulrennan.
The smart sprinter was unlucky at this venue a the Ebor meeting last month and can take his course and distance tally to three at best odds of 7/1 with 888Sport, a firm which returns stakes as a free bet if your horse is beaten into second by a neck or less.
Mass Rally's most recent win came at this venue off 2lb lower last October and the 7-year-old has caught the eye despite some bad luck in-running of late. The selection stayed on well for fourth over this track and trip early last month in the Group 2 Duke of York Stakes and was denied a clear run in the final furlong over the minimum distance in the Symphony Group Handicap last time. Despite not having a clear passage, the bay gelding ran on well and was closing on the leaders at the winning post, suggesting that a step back up to 6 furlongs today will put him bang there.
Intibah would seem the biggest danger to the tip having gone well fresh at Haydock in May. Paul Hanagan's mount may not find Mass Rally so forgiving this time though now that the latter is up to speed and looks to be coming to the boil. The consistent Naadirr is another one to watch out for having gone close in a Group 3 contest at Newbury and at Newmarket latest, but Mass Rally will surely find a way through in this smaller field and can put the hard luck stories behind him with a win.
