Hugo Palmer's Khubala is tipped to land an open looking event at 5.30 Yarmouth this afternoon following the gelding's return to action last month.
The 5-year-old son of Acclamation was a consistent performer in some top races last season and a price of 5/1 with Paddy Power should be snapped up on the evidence of those meritiorious displays.
Khubala ran well in a Class 2 Handicap at Newbury last May before landing a 6 furlong Windsor event at the expense classy performer Tropics, which was sson followed by a cracking run for fourth in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot. The selection went close again in York's Sky Bet Dash and the listed Queensferry Stakes at Chester before running out of steam at the end of a busy 2013.
Freshened up with a 10 month break, Khubala dusted off the cobwebs with a modest run in a Newmarket listed race last month, but will be a lot sharper following that run and the mount of William Buick is tipped to come out on top today.
The field is headed by veteran Royal Rock who won this race 12 months ago, but could be vulnerable to younger challengers. Clear Spring took a bit of a backwards step when getting nowhere in the Portland on Saturday and has had little time to recover, while Rex Imperitor has not shown his best form for some time now.
