Hamilton Park stages the Class 3 Totepool Ebf Stallions Flower Of Scotland Fillies' Handicap on Monday afternoon, which is tipped to go the way of Lady Frances.
Mark Johnston's 3-year-old could have the run of the race in this small field and the front-runner makes plenty of appeal at the guaranteed 5/1 with William Hill. The Exceed And Excel filly is expected to dictate the tempo of today's 6f 5yds contest and her rivals may not be able to reel her in if she's given an easy lead.
Lady Frances made a winning start to 2014 on the All-Weather at Wolverhampton and has proved her effectiveness on turf with subsequent victories at Catterick Bridge and Brighton. The mount of Joe Fanning went down by a head to a consistent performer in Meeting Waters at Musselburgh on her penultimate start and was hampered inside the final furlong last time out at Chester. The form of that race looks quite strong as the winner was a runner-up in a 14-runner race at Ayr on Saturday and with no repeat of the traffic problems which hindered her last time expected on this straight course, Lady Frances is tipped to bounce back.
Top-weight Ventura Mist is likely to have a say in proceedings on the evidence of her last two runs, while Love Island has slipped back to her last winning mark and could also come into the reckoning. Mark Johnston is a shrewd handler though, and the fact that he's dropping Lady Frances back in trip can't be ignored on good to firm ground she's won on in the past.
