Horse racing tipster Alan Kelly is happy to oppose hot favourite High Secret with Reach The Beach in the New Arc Racing Syndicates Handicap at 5.20 Bath on Monday.
The market leader for this 1m5f 22yds contest made a winning start to handicapping at Newcastle last week and Sir Mark Prescott sends his 3-year-old to Bath in the hope of landing a quick-fire double. At odds-on though, High Secret makes little appeal form a betting perspective and has gone up 5lb for that success, so Reach The Beach is preferred at best odds 13/2 with Betvictor.
Reach The Beach was unsuccessfully campaigned over hurdles earlier in the season, but the experience will have certainly stretched her stamina and the chestnut mare's form has improved greatly in her last three outings. The switch back to flat racing combined with the fitting of a tongue-strap at Ffos las in August almost resulted in victory, but she found one too good in Lochalsh, a horse which subsequently finished third in the Three Sisters Handicap at Haydock on Friday. Brendan Powell's 5-year-old had her head in front on the very next start though, winning comfortably back at Ffos Las before being just touched off by the in-form Now What when last seen at Chepstow earlier this month.
Reach The Beach races off the same handicap rating of that runner-up effort three weeks ago which looks to be a workable mark, while High Secret may struggle to cope with the revised terms. Tunnel Tiger continues to perform with credit, but the filly remains a maiden and Reach The Beach has been consistent enough to expect another bold bid.
