Moohaarib is expected to find today's assignment much easier than his previous start and is tipped to land the spoils at 3.10 Pontefract.
The 6/1 chance with Coral made a pleasing debut over 1 mile 2 furlongs at Nottingham in April when third of eleven and was among those at the business end when sixth over the same distance at Newbury in May, a race won by Connecticut who won a further two races before placing third in the Betfred Melrose Stakes at York.
Dropping the 3-year-old back to a 1 mile trip proved to be a shrewd move by handler Marco Botti as Moohaarib routed eight rivals at Ripon on his next start in June before backing that success up with a victory on his handicap debut at Doncaster. The mount of Martin Harley then ran with great credit off a revised mark of 93 for third in the Class 2 Weatherbys Private Banking Handicap at Ascot on his penultimate start, before posting a rare below-par effort at York when last seen in August.
Moohaarib will be freshened up after six weeks off the track and should appreciate the drop in class today. Dream Spirit heads the market at a general 5/2, but was poor at Newmarket when last seen and looks a risky proposition at such short odds. Potent Embrace and Libran are lightly weighted, but are thought to need quite a bit of improvement to get involved, while Top Of The Glas could come into the reckoning if last month's Ayr flop was just a one-off.
