Farlow has been running consistently well of late and is tipped by horse racing expert Alan Kelly to get a head in front in the Tennents Lager Handicap at 5.10 Ayr on Thursday.
The selection was tipped at a massive price of 16/1 on our Twitter feed yesterday and overnight support now sees the mount of David Nolan a best price 7/1 with William Hill. The Exceed And Excel gelding was back in the winning groove over 7 furlongs at Thirsk in April and races of a 1lb higher mark today, so has to be of interest.
The 6-year-old has found the frame on numerous occasions since that win and was not a million miles away in the Investec Mile at Epsom Downs in June. Farlow posted another solid effort in a Class 2 at Newcastle later that month before getting stuck in the mud in the Thirsk Summer Cup, but bounced back to go close over today's trip at Newbury.
Last seen having a crack at the Silver Cup, Farlow should appreciate the step back up to 7 furlongs and will find this company easier to handle than last month's hot handicap. Today's soft going can also be considered a plus point as Richard Fahey's chestnut gelding acts well with a cut in the ground and Farlow looks more than capable of wresting this from market leader Trixie Malone. Those two will most likely battle out the final furlong, but Evanescent could enter calculations if coping with a futher 4lb rise for a good effort at Pontefract two weeks ago.
