Betting for the John O'gaunt Beginners' Chase at 2.50 Leicester is headed by Thomas Crapper, a well supported 2/1 chance to make it third time lucky over fences, but Charlie Poste's 7-year-old may not get things his own way with a couple of progressive types ready to take him on.

Deep Trouble could get involved if his jumping holds up on the evidence of his hurdling exploits which culminated in a 25-runner handicap hurdle victory at Punchestown in May. But at odds of 11/4 with a number of firms including 888Sport who return losing stakes as a free bet should your horse finish second by up to 1/2 a length, it's Three Kingdoms who gets the vote here.

The 5-year-old went well fresh when landing Wetherby hurdle in October last year before going close at the Open meeting with the likes of Vibrato Valtat and the re-opposing Dresden in behind. From there it was back-to-back victories, firstly over course and distance before landing the spoils at Kempton with Vibrato Valtat in behind again, prompting John Ferguson to enter the chestnut gelding in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

That last race ended up being too big an ask for the selection, but today's opponents are nowhere near the level of those faced at Cheltenham and Three Kingdoms is confidently expected to make a winning chase debut back in calmer waters at a track where he has won previously.
