Lightentertainment justifiably heads the betting for the Class 3 Handicap Hurdle at 1.40 Fontwell with a number of firms quoting odds of 5/2, including Coral where punters get losing stakes returned should their horse fall or unseat during the race.
The Chris Gordon-trained 6-year-old relished the step up in trip when scoring under today's rider over course and distance on Good to Soft ground in his final start of last season. A 7lb rise saw the selection racing against some more accomplished horses back at this venue on his seasonal reappearance in October, but Lightentertainment showed his liking for the track by recording a second consecutive win. The King's Theatre gelding was then set an even tougher task at Ascot when last seen at the turn of the month, where subsequent winner Tara Road had to pull out all the stops to prevent his hat-trick and the mount of Tom Cannon should take all the beating today back at his favoured venue.
Makethemostofnow has won twice at today's distance, but is not the most reliable and a fall at the second fence in a chase at Ludlow last time out sees him return to the smaller obstacles, with Lamps having a similar profile following an unsuccessful chasing career. Cadoudoff should strip fitter for his return at Huntingdon, but never landed a blow in the Fred Winter at the Cheltenham Festival and it's Lightentertainment who is taken to continue the upward curve by winning for the third time in four starts today.
