Zero Visability heads the betting for the 2m 1f Class 5 Seneca Homes Novices Handicap Hurdle at 3.00 Sedgefield after taking full advantage of a lenient opening mark at Fontwell last month, but has to build on that performance today from 2lb out of the weights and could find one or two of today's opponents too strong.
Baltic Pathfinder has won three times at Sedgefield, but didn't inspire much confidence on his first start for James Ewart back over hurdles and with today's trip perhaps on the sharp side for the ex Sue Smith-runner, it's Baraboy who gets the vote at best odds 10/3 with William Hill.
The Barry Murtagh-trained 4-year-old ran consistently over hurdles last term, albeit often hitting the frame without winning. The bay gelding needed the run at Carlisle and was firmly back on track when runner-up at Ayr last month, with a repeat of that effort likely to put him bang there dropped 2lb. Brian Harding gave him a good ride that day and is back in the saddle this afternoon, so another bold bid can be anticipated with the application of a tongue tie.
Elsewhere in the field, top-weight Pixie Cut will need a special run to win this conceding weight all round in testing conditions and Khelac was unable to finish off his race both hurdles starts last month, while Beyondtemptation will likely find this company too hot.
