Theatrical Star heads the betting for Tuesday's Class 3 Axio Special Works Handicap Chase at 2.10 Fontwell at a general 11/8 with a number of bookmakers. However, despite a promising prep-run over hurdles at Cheltenham last month, Colin Tizzard's 8-year-old may struggle to concede weight to Global Power who is tipped to out-stay the market leader at the guaranteed 5/2 with William Hill.
Handler Oliver Sherwood is rather selective about where he sends his lightly-raced 8-year-old who won over today's distance at Carlisle on his sole start last season and registered a good second in the same race on his belated return last month. The mount of Grand National winning jockey Leighton Aspell carries over half a stone less than Theatrical Star and Fruity O'Rooney today and is known to go well on soft ground, so should relish the conditions at Fontwell Park this afternoon.
Elsewhere in the field Kingcora hasn't shown much in two starts this season, but remains unexposed at this sort of trip, while Dancing Dik has not ran under rules for almost three years and will have to dig deep to convert point-to-point form into a victory here. Today's extended 3 mile 2 furlong trip should be right up Global Power's street and he is confidently tipped to come out on top this afternoon.
