Bob Tucker heads the betting for today's Class 4 32Red Casino Novices Limited Handicap Chase at 3.00 Huntingdon and looks every bit the one to beat at best odds 15/8 with Ladbrokes.
The bay gelding produced a string of creditable performances over hurdles when in the care of Brendan Powell last season and his consistency paid off with wins at Worcester and Wincanton. Interestingly the first of those successes was on good going and the latter on heavy, so there can be no worries about today's soft ground with such a versatile horse.
Noel Fehily was in the saddle for Bob Tucker's chasing debut at Sandown and the 9-year-old will benefit from having the same pilot aboard for today's 3 mile test, having perhaps been ridden too aggressively at Newbury last time. The horse looked to have the measure of his fences on both of those in the frame efforts and can continue to progress as a chaser with another game effort.
Fergal Mael Duin would seem the main danger to the selection having found the frame on all four outings in this sphere, while Jazz Man could be the joker in the pack making his chase debut from the bottom of the handicap for Dr Richard Newland. But Bob Tucker remains open to improvement and a more enterprising ride should see him open his account over fences today.
