Yeeoow makes the switch from all-weather to turf and with bottom weight and a good draw is tipped to win the 6 furlong handicap at 3.20 Pontefract today.
Karl Burke’s six-year-old seems to be at his best in the spring and goes to the Yorkshire circuit with the benefit of four runs on the all-weather. The gelding has dropped down the weights since finishing second in a decent handicap at Newmarket twelve months ago and has been placed on two previous visits to Pontefract.
Today he gets a plum draw in stall one and running off a 4lb lower mark than when third here last April is worth taking a punt with Betway who are holding out at 9-2 after support for the selection this morning.
Another market mover in the race is the Richard Fahey-trained Supplicant making his seasonal debut. The four-year-old had a profitable juvenile campaign and is fairly treated on a couple of efforts at Ripon in the autumn. It will be interesting to see how the son of Kyllachy has fared over the winter but at a general 3-1 is not the best value betting offer here.
Lexington Abbey produced an eye-catching effort at Doncaster on his return last month nut is not proving as popular as expected in the betting market where he expected to go off clear favourite.
Free Code is an interesting entry and it would be worthwhile watching for any movement in the market. David Barron’s four-year-old is another well treated on juvenile form and the drop in trip could be significant after the son of Kodiac spent last season campaigning over much longer distances.
