Tuesday's Class 3 H R Smith Group Ltd Handicap Chase at 2.40 Ludlow can go the way of Aerial at best odds 7/2 with Paddy Power. Formerly trained by Jack Barber, the 9-year-old is back with Paul Nicholls and is an eye catching entrant for the 3 mile handicap, having contested a number of hunter chases this year.
Aerial's recent second at Exeter came on the back of a solid effort in the St. James's Place Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup at the Cheltenham Festival and with quicker conditions underfoot more to the horses liking today, a bold bid is expected. If Jockey Sam Twiston-Davies can position his mount in a prominent position at today's sharper venue, then Aerial's speed can be seen to good effect off what looks a dangerously low mark back in handicap company.
Kilbree Lad has found the frame 3 times off higher marks in staying handicaps after breaking his chasing duck at Market Rasen last summer and is entitled to respect, while Guiding George and Benevolent fought it out at Fakenham last month, with the latter coming out on top and dual course and distance winner King Massini has shown signs of returning to form lately and is tried back up in trip.
