The opening day of York's Dante meeting kicks off on Wednesday afternoon with a quality card featuring the Group 2 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes at 3.15 and the Group 3 Oaks' trial Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at 3.45. Bookmakers go 11-2 the field in the former six furlong contest, finding it hard to split the four main contenders, Astaire, Lightning Moon, Muthmir and Naadirr and while one of that quartet are likely to come home first, ground conditions look sure to play a part with the last named two requiring quick going to produce their best.

The Oaks' trial looks a straight match between the Aidan O'Brien-trained Together Forever who has to concede 4lb to her main rival Star Of Seville, and an impressive victory for either filly could see a shake-up in the betting for the Epsom Classic on Friday 5th June. In an effort to find a bigger priced nap for the day however it is the 6f sprint handicap at 2.40, the Infinity Tyres Stakes, which appeals most as the David O'Meara-trained top weight Out Do. He is top price 14-1 with Betway and Boylesports but makes more appeal as an each way bet with bet365 and Paddy Power who go 12/1 and pay on 5 places.

A new mark of 104 may not stop the son of Exceed And Excel from following up his unexpected Pontefract victory on his seasonal reappearance last month when sent off a 14-1 chance, a run which suggested that the six-year-old is capable of making his mark in better company for a stable which excels in improving supposedly exposed horses, Custom Cut being a perfect example. The mount of Daniel Tudhope travelled well at Pontefract despite having to shoulder 9st 7lb and it would be no surprise to see the gelding make the transition to Listed or Group company before the end of the season.

Out Do is a consistent performer who has already bagged one major sprint handicap in the shape of Ripon's William Hill Great St Wilfrid as well as running creditably, without much luck in running, on a number of occasions including when ninth behind the classy Muthmir in Doncaster's Ladbroke Portland Handicap last September. A middle draw in stall 10 means his rider can decide whether to go high or low unlike Ryan Moore's mount Tatislu who has the 1 berth.

Jamie Spencer's mount Bogart is becoming seriously well handicapped but has not won since August 2013 while the in-form Pipers Note is on a hat-trick following victories at Beverley and Ripon but both may struggle to match strides with Out Do, who looks an improving sprinter going places.

Recommendation:
1 Point each-way Out Do 12-1 bet365 (5 places)
