Favourite backers will be hoping that Pull The Pin can explode into action in this afternoon's extended 5 furlong handicap at Hamilton Park after a lengthy barran spell. The market leader certainly merits repsect having gone close in a number of decent handicaps this season, including when runner-up from a field of 16 last time out, but 28 races without getting a head in front is enough to deter any investment at odds of 2/1.
I'll Be Good made all over track and trip last week, but has a penalty to contend with, while Sartori ran reasonably well at the venue last timne depite a bad draw and could do better for the application of first-time cheekpieces. Chookie's Lass is now 4lb below her last winning mark, so could be involved at the finish if things fall right, but at 8/1 with 888Sport (trebled for new customers) it's Captain Scooby who makes the most appeal.
The multiple course and distance winner has continued to give a good account with a succession of solid performances in defeat, coming from off to challenge inside the final furlong in each of the last three starts. If getting a decent break from the stall's then expect the Richard Guest-trained horse to track the leaders, before asserting himself at the business end.
Today's Good to Soft going holds no concerns as the bay gelding has scored at Hamilton on the same ground conditions and Megan Whitehead's allowance effectively put's the 9-year-old 1lb higher than his last winning mark, so a bold bid can be expected.
