The Group 2 Prix Robert Papin is the highlight of a 9-race card at Maisons-Laffitte on Sunday and looks set to be ran at a genuine pace with the front-running Fly On The Night expected to attempt to make all as she did to great success when making it 3 wins from 3 starts in a Group 3 at Chantilly when last seen.
Areen heads the betting on the basis of his splendid run in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, but having subsequently been poor in the July Stakes, can be readily opposed and it's 11/2 chance Ajaya that looks the value bet of the race.
The Invincible Spirit colt was perhaps unlucky on his debut before missing the break in the Norfolk Stakes where he stayed on well despite being denied a clear run and confirmed the theory that a good run wasn't far away when romping home in a York maiden. The William Haggas-trained bay looks to have bags of potential and if a little more can be unlocked today, then expect a bold bid from the mount of Christophe Soumillon.
Course and distance winner Venecia Style is another unbeaten opponent and is feared, while Gutaifan may need to step up on recent displays to give his stable back-to-back wins in this race and Yakaba could be anything having won against other unraced fillies on her only start to date.
