After a near miss at the venue a fortnight ago, today's Class 4 AMCO Rail Handicap Chase looks like a golden opportunity for Sendiym to record a fifth career win at Sedgefield.
Dianne Sayer's gelding was narrowly denied at the track in August and travelled well before fading over 2m6f at Kelso last month before putting up a strong challenge to an improver in The Backup Plan over the shorter trip of 2m3f65y. Sendiym looked to be reeling in the leader but couldn't quite close the gap on Donald McCain's 6-year-old, though faces nothing of that calibre today racing off the same mark.
Court of Law heads the betting after getting off the mark at the expense of a subsequent winner at Warwick, but has a 6lb rise to contend with and gives 10lb away to our selection. The veteran of the field, Carters Rest, was in decent form on fast ground in the early part of the summer though he's yet to prove he stays this far, while Gin Cobbler has been disappointing since winning at Hexham in June.
Pindar got off the mark over fences at this venue last year, but form has been patchy since then and Marlee Mourinho is yet to win, while Champagne Agent's only National Hunt success was in a bumper and the bottom weight has been less than convincing over jumps.
