Nearly Caught's third in the Northumberland Plate and fifth in the Cesarewitch make the mount of Robert Havlin a worthy favourite for today's Phil Bull Trophy Conditions Stakes at 4.40 Pontefract, but odds of 4/11 look short enough to oppose and the 11/4 available about High Secret looks like a nice bit of value. Sir Mark Prescott's 4-year-old is a 3-time winner over staying trips this season and is worth giving another chance after failing to fire in the Cesarewitch, with a bounce back expected against today's smaller field.

The High Chaparral gelding backed up a solid second on his seasonal reappearance when going in over 1m5f at Chelmsford in May and looked suited to having his stamina stretched when runner-up at Kempton over 2m in June. Today's jockey Luke Morris was back in the saddle to pilot High Secret to success at Catterick Bridge in July, before being denied by a short head to Seamour at Ascot later that month. A convincing win over a furlong further in Killarney followed in August before a solid fourth in Haydock's Old Borough Cup, so last Saturday's below-par effort at Newmarket looks to be nothing more than an anomaly when compared to previous form.

Course winner Tuscan Gold was off the bridle early a couple of weeks ago, while Madam Lilibet won over track and trip last year, but has more to do this time and it would be a major surprise if either Riptide or Amber Flush troubled the two at the head of the market.
