The Farmers Insurance Open takes place this week at Torrey Pines, San Diego, with champion and current favourite, Jason Day (7/1 with Skybet) looking to retain his title.
The event is played over the North and South courses at Torrey Pines, with the North course hosting the first two days, before moving to the South for the weekend action. Both courses play to a Par 72 and are some 6,800 yards long.
Each way backers should be aware that Paddy Power are offering SEVEN PLACES on this event.
Here are my four picks for the event :
Brandt Snedeker at 18/1 with PaddyPower looks a great each-way alternative to the favourite. Snedeker has finished second and third in his last two events, following on from a win in the Franklin Templeton Shootout, an un-official tour event. He also has plenty of previous experience here, including a win in 2012 and three, top three finishes. Form is great, his touch is great and at 18/1 with seven places paid by Paddy Power, he ticks plenty of punting boxes.
Bill Haas at 35/1 with Boylesport is another player whose Torrey Pines experience could prove invaluable this week. In the eleven appearances at the event, he has missed the cut just once and has three top tens to his name, along with four top twenty finishes.
Haas has only played three events in the last two months, which could raise concerns of rustiness, but last week’s ninth placed finish at the CareerBuilder event, should calm any doubts. Haas to finish in the top ten at 10/3 also with Boylesport, looks a solid bet here.
Charles Howell III is in good form coming into this event, having placed in the top twenty, in six of the seven events he has played so far this season. Howell III has never missed a cut at Torrey Pines and has finished in the top ten on three of the last six occasions. Howell III to finish in the top twenty at 13/8 with Totesport looks decent value.
Lastly, Jamie Lovemark at 7/2 with BetVictor for a top twenty finish looks another strong option here. Lovemark may not be a household name, but current form (three consecutive top tens) and recent performances at Torrey Pines (Missed one cut in five visits), make him a prime candidate to finish comfortably in the top part of the leaderboard.
Brandt Snedeker (Each Way) at 18/1 Paddy Power (7 places)
Bill Haas (Top Ten Finish) at 10/3 Boylesport
Charles Howell III (Top 20 Finish) at 13/8 Totesport
Jamie Lovemark (Top 20 Finish) at 7/2 BetVictor
