The next event on the PGA Golf Tour is the Waste Management (WM) Phoenix Open, played on the world famous Scottsdale course in Arizona.
The course plays to a Par 71 and is in excess of 7,200 yards long. Last year’s winner was Brooks Koepka (20/1 with Ladbrokes), who finished -15 under par on a course where the average winning score has ranged between -14 and -18 in seven of the last eight years that the event has been played.
Each way backers should be aware that Paddy Power are offering a magnificent SEVEN PLACES on this event.
Here are my four bets for this week...
The main pick for the event is Bubba Watson, who is favourite at 12/1 with Coral. Watson has had four top ten finishes in his last six events, including a win at the Hero World Challenge. Watson comes to Scottsdale with an amazing record that has seen him finish par or better in all thirty-four rounds he has played there. This coupled with his two successive runner-up spots in the last two years, make him an outstanding pick for the win.
Kevin Kisner comes into this event at 33/1 via Totesport, with a very good start to the season already under his belt. His last four events have seen him win and grab three top ten finishes. Kisner is playing some superb golf at the moment and producing some equally excellent statistics. Top ten ranks in Driving Accuracy, Strokes Gained:Putting and Overall Scoring, show off his all round game and worth an each-way punt for me at 33/1, especially with Paddy Power’s seven places on offer. Those looking for a safer bet, can grab 7/2 with Stan James for a top ten finish on the American.
Next up is a Swede, David Lingmerth, who is 50/1 in the outright betting with Boylesports. Like Kisner above, Lingmerth has been playing some excellent golf recently, finishing no lower than fifteenth in his last four events, which include a runner-up spot in his last event. At 5/1 with Betfred for a top ten finish, he offers some decent value and certainly has the game to do well here.
Lastly, Charles Howell III gets on my list once again. After a sixth consecutive top twenty finish in last week’s Farmers event, he comes to Scottsdale with a decent record, finishing in the top twenty-five places on six occasions. Another top twenty finish beckons here surely, with the 9/4 offered by SkyBet actually longer priced than the same bet last week.
Bubba Watson (Win) at 12/1 Coral
Kevin Kisner (Each Way) at 33/1 Paddy Power (7 places!)
David Lingmerth (Top 10 Finish) at 5/1 Betfred
Charles Howell III (Top 20 Finish) at 9/4 Skybet
As well as paying out on SEVEN PLACES on this event, Paddy Power will also give all new customers three £10 free bet tokens when you bet just £10!
