Beaten semi-finalists Belgium and England meet in third-place play-off
After falling short in the semi-finals Belgium and England will meet in Russia for the 2018 World Cup third-place play-off.
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions had overcome Colombia and Sweden to reach the final four but were outworked and undone by an impressive Croatia, losing 2-1 in extra-time.
Belgium were also toppled by France in their semi-final encounter, setting up a second meeting with England at this summer’s tournament this weekend.
It was the international Red Devils that prevailed in the nations’ group stage clash and they are now a promising 7/2 with Coral to win without conceding again inside normal time here.
Meanwhile, England are 21/10 with Ladbrokes to come out on top in 90 minutes and secure third position at the World Cup.
It’s Harry Kane v Romelu Lukaku for the Golden Boot
In what is typically a highly disregarded and overlooked fixture, the third-place play-off will likely be played out as a friendly encounter as usual with nothing major to play for.
Although, neither country will want to finish their campaign with another defeat and there’s also the small matter of the Golden Boot to sort out as well.
England’s Harry Kane is in prime position for the honour this summer and he is 7/2 with Paddy Power to open the scoring in this clash to help cement his personal award.
Belgium ace Romelu Lukaku is seemingly the only forward that can catch the Spurs striker in the top scorer race and he can be backed at 5/1 with William Hill to bag a brace or more in his pursuit of the trophy here.
