June 17, 2018
Hopeful England open 2018 World Cup campaign with Tunisia tussle
The wait is finally over as Gareth Southgate leads England out for their opening group game of the 2018 World Cup against Tunisia.
After an impressive qualifying campaign and on the back of a Premier League season which featured plenty of top notch performances from players involved, the Three Lions are ready for Russia.
Their main threat in Group G are without question the star-studded Belgium outfit, boasting the likes of English top-flight stars Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.
With the clash against the international Red Devils coming last in group proceedings, the two imminent matches with Tunisia and Panama are therefore crucial.
Anything less than a win in their opener could prove to be costly, with England knowing this all too well.
Although, they should be more than capable of avoiding any embarrassment and will enter at 3/1 with Paddy Power to prevail by exactly two goals.
Tunisia are available at 9/1 with Betfair to do the unthinkable and hand England the worst possible start on their Russian ventures.
Harry Kane main man for Three Lions in attacking ranks
With the retirement of Wayne Rooney, Tottenham Hotspur frontman Harry Kane is now England’s leading light in attack.
The Spurs sharpshooter was in typically clinical form throughout the past Premier League season, losing out narrowly to Mohamed Salah in the race for the prestigious Golden Boot.
After being the armband for the tournament by manager Southgate, Kane has even more pressure to perform and lead by example.
In this opening group outing the Three Lions hitman is 13/5 with bet365 to open the scoring, having dispatched 46 times in 53 appearances across all fronts for club and country this past term.
For Tunisia, the most notable name is ES Tunis forward Anice Badri and he is 13/2 with Betfair to get on the scoresheet anytime here.
