Jack contests long-standing light-heavyweight champion Stevenson in Canada

Badou Jack (22-1-2, 13 KOs) arrives in Canada aiming to dethrone long-standing WBC light-heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (29-1, 24 KOs) this weekend.

The Sweden-born challenger previously reigned as super-middleweight world champion but jumped up divisions to stop and ultimately retire Welshman Nathan Cleverly last August.

After claiming the WBA ‘regular’ strap in that outing, Jack immediately turned attentions towards Stevenson, who has held the WBC belt since 2013.

The defending title holder is the odds-on 8/11 favourite with William Hill to retain his crown in a ninth successful defence on home territory.

Meanwhile, at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Jack will enter the ring at 11/8 with Betfair to dethrone Stevenson on his travels.

Stevenson seeking ninth successful title defence against latest challenger Jack

After a fifth-round stoppage success over Briton Cleverly to claim a version of the WBA 175lbs strap, Jack steps up to take on the fighter regarded as the best in the division.

Although, Haiti-born ‘Superman’, now 40 years of age, has been criticised for his five-year title reign, having overcome lesser opponents during that time and strangely been granted permission to overlook certain mandatories.

Stevenson may not be the most liked fighter in the sport, but his quality cannot be denied, with his left hand being an extremely dangerous threat to Jack this weekend.

The WBC belt holder is 13/8 with Bet365 to knock out his Swedish challenger in his own backyard, after three straight stoppage victories. He is also 10/3 to retain his strap via the judges’ scorecards here.

Jack will be the naturally smaller man after moving up in weight, but he has the skills to take Stevenson into deep waters in this testing battle, if he can avoid the champion’s threatening power shots.

The 34-year-old is a promising 5/2 with Paddy Power to earn an impressive points triumph on his visit to Canada, while he can be backed at 9/2 with Bet365 to secure a surprise KO win.

Badou Jack is 5/2 to win by decision with Paddy Power.
