Arsenal Away win
Arsenal look to resume leadership of the Premier League after Manchester City’s victory against Palace put them top of the table on Saturday. Arsene Wenger’s side must win to go above City who went two points clear after an untypically edgy home performance in the 1-0 victory over rejuvenated Palace.
In-form Newcastle will provide a stern test for Arsenal with the Magpies unbeaten in the last four games which includes a win at Old Trafford earlier this month. Alan Pardew’s men put five past one of the meanest defences in the division when hammering Stoke 5-1 on Boxing Day and have attacking talent to trouble to any side in the league.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “I thought Newcastle were a good bet to beat Stoke on Thursday but I’m deserting Alan Pardew’s team despite their great recent form.
Arsenal have an impressive record at St James Park where they’ve won three and drawn four of the last seven visits. Another win should be on the cards for Arsene Wenger’s men and 23/20 at BetVictor for the away win looks worth a punt.”
Newcastle haven’t looked back since losing the Wear-Tyne derby to bitter rivals Sunderland in October, winning 7 of 9 subsequent league games. United are on the coat tails of the top six and could go above Everton into fifth if they can take all three points from this one.
Arsenal had dropped seven points from three games against top six sides before beating West Ham at the Boleyn on Boxing Day and travel to Tyneside for a second successive away game. The Gunners won this fixture 1-0 last season and have not lost a game at St James Park since December 2005.
