Back Manchester City to increase Wenger’s woes at ailing Arsenal

Two high-profile bosses meet as Arsenal in sixth host third-placed Manchester City. Time is surely running out for the frustrated Frenchman, who cut a rather forlorn figure after yet another embarrassing Premier League defeat at West Brom. Arsenal have slipped to sixth and the international break couldn’t come quick enough for the Gunners under-pressure boss who faces missing out on the top four for the first time in two decades. The vast majority of the Gunners’ players have simply stopped responding to Wenger, something I witnessed at first hand in Munich during their Champions League annihilation against Bayern. Given the current cloud hanging over the cloud, it’s hard to see this group of players bailing him out of trouble, especially as Wenger’s best talents (Alexis Sanchez / Mesut Ozil) seem reluctant to extend their stay at the club.

However, after dominating the Bundesliga and La Liga, Pep Guardiola isn’t having it his own way either in his first season in English football.

Surprisingly dumped out of the Champions League by Monaco, City have a very poor record at Arsenal. Their sole Premier League win at the Emirates came over four years ago, and that was their first win in over 37 years since the old days of the first division at Highbury way back in 1975.

Nevertheless, City’s nightmarish record at Arsenal is outweighed by the current #wengerout malaise hanging over the Emirates. Despite their well-documented goalkeeping and defensive issues, City have managed to keep clean sheets in each of their last three away PL games. Combine that with scoring at least twice in eight of their last 10 aways — that’s good enough form for me as City crank up the pressure another notch on Wenger and his misfiring Gunners side.

Back City to win at 11-8 with bet victor, while a CITY HT / CITY FT is also attractive at 3-1 with the same company.
