Back Spurs to have too much firepower for Arsenal in the North London derby

Second placed Spurs host Arsenal hoping to keep their title bid on course against Arsene Wenger’s misfiring Gunners.

These two North London sides are enjoying a role reversal in league fortunes this season with Spurs set to finish above the Arsenal for the first time in over two decades. However, the formbook goes out of the window when these two meet. Arsenal will be especially keen to put a spanner in the works of their bitter rivals’ title bid.

Spurs’ splendid run of seven wins in a row has breathed new life into the title race in recent weeks, but they still have their work cut out to catch Chelsea at the top.

Monsieur Wenger has come under serious flak this season, more than at any other time in his 21-year reign at Arsenal, with the Gunners languishing in seventh spot in the Premier League and on the receiving end of two 5-1 thumpings home and away to German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

However, the Gunners showed a real spirit and togetherness to come from behind to beat Manchester City in the FA Cup on Sunday — something that has been seriously lacking for large chunks of this disappointing season.

White Hart Lane has become a veritable fortress though for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, who have won their last 12 home Premier League matches. Therefore, Spurs are a good bet at 103-100 with Marathon to secure bragging rights in the derby, while having also led at HT / FT in their last five home matches the 12-5 with Bet Victor for Spurs HT / FT is decent.

There hasn’t been a goalless North London Derby since February 2009 so goals seem almost certainly guaranteed. With Spurs scoring at least twice in 11 of their last 12 Premier League home matches, and over 2.5 goals the play in Arsenal’s last 10 away PL games — over 2.5 is understandably short at 8-13 with Sky Bet.

Another interesting punt sees Spurs striker Harry Kane, an Arsenal fanatic as a kid, predictably as low as even money to score at any time with Paddy Power.
