Barca Can Deny Bayern First Leg Advantage In Champions League Semi
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier tips Bayern Munich and Barcelona to finish all square in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tonight.
Lionel Messi is expected to be able to play for Barcelona against last season’s beaten finalists following a two game absence due to a thigh injury. Messi last played when coming off the subs bench in the quarter-final second leg against Paris St Germain when the Spanish league leaders progressed on away goals.
Messi recently became the first player in La Liga to score consecutively against every team in the league and has scored eight times in the Champions League this season. Barca are looking to win the Champions League for the third time in five seasons while Bayern could reach the final for the third time in four years.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “The possible return of Lionel Messi could be a big factor in the game but even with the Argentinian in the side, Barca have looked suspect away in Europe this season. Arsenal spoiled Bayern’s perfect home record and I can see the semi-final first leg finishing a draw, top price 13/5 at bet365.”
Bayern are favourite to win the home leg and have only been beaten twice in the Allianz Arena in all competitions this season. Arsenal inflicted the Germans only Champions League defeat here in March but the 2-0 victory wasn’t enough to stop Bayern qualifying for the last eight when they wenot on to defeat Juventus 4-0 on aggregate.
Bayern and Barca have met in the Champions League once before, the Spaniards drew the semi-final first leg 1-1 in Munich before winning 4-0 at the Nou Camp on the way to winning the 2009 final.
