We’re off to the Copper Box Arena inside the Olympic Park this weekend for a night of big-hitting action from Queensbury Promotions.
Joe Joyce headlines the stacked card against “Big Bang” Zhilei Zhang – a fight that is set to have a big bearing on the heavyweight world title picture.
The winner will earn a shot at Oleksandr Usyk for a version of the heavyweight world title, that is assuming the murky world of boxing politics doesn’t force any hurdles.
Despite three fairly one-sided fights we’ve managed to squeeze out some value in a juicy 5/1 double.
Check out the legs here:
10pm - Joe Joyce to beat Zhilei Zhang by Decision/Technical Decision
This one could be an absolute war.
Both Joyce and Zhang are known for having granite chins, so no matter what either of the heavyweights throw at each other, there is a big chance we hear the final bell in east London.
But Joyce is that cut above Zhang.
The Briton is extremely well conditioned and plays into his nickname of the “Juggernaut” perfectly – he just keeps walking forward through fire throwing bomb after bomb.
Joyce has more bludgeoning power than that Deontay Wilder-esque one-punch power and we can see the favourite punishing Zhang over 12 rounds in a credible effort from the away fighter.
8.30pm, Moses Itauma to beat Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko by KO, TKO or DQ
Moses Itauma is one to watch in the heavyweight division.
The 18-year-old southpaw has blasted his way to a 2-0 record via two 1st round stoppages, and we can’t see Kostiantyn Dovbyshchenko lasting too much longer this weekend.
The away fighter owns a modest 9-12-1 record and is without a win in his last three, but importantly, in his 12 defeats has yet to be knocked out.
This will be the aim of Itauma this weekend in order to make a statement and we think he’ll pass with flying colours.
