Bradford To Qualify For League Final
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier tips Bradford to qualify for the Capital One Cup final at Aston Villa’s expense tonight.
The Bantams take a 3-1 lead to Villa Park for the semi-final second leg and could become the first side from the bottom tier to reach the League Cup final since Rochdale finished runners up to Norwich in 1961.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “Only once has a side reversed a two goal deficit from a League Cup semi-final first leg and made the final. That was Aston Villa back in 1994 but that side was a lot better than the current one. If Bradford get on the scoresheet first then that might just end tonight’s game as a tie. Either way Villa need to score at least three to feel comfortable and I think they’ll struggle to do that against the plucky underdogs. I’m surprised to see Sky Bet offering 4/5 on the Bantams qualifying and that looks on the generous side.”
Bradford should be able to forget about their league form (one point from the last four games) and remember they are unbeaten against three Premier League sides in the competition, having knocked out Wigan and Arsenal on penalties to reach the semi-finals.
Villa’s cup form had been good until falling foul of the Bantams a fortnight ago. Paul Lambert’s youngsters are through to the FA Cup fourth round and had taken care of Manchester City, Swindon and Norwich to get this far in the League Cup.
