Carabao Cup Semi-Final Betting Tips and Predictions

The Carabao Cup Betting Tips
The Carabao Cup has hit Semi Final stage and it’d be impossible to say this year hasn’t been a thriller.
Middlesbrough came close to beating Manchester City for the first time this season, West Ham came back from 2-0 down to beat Spurs and of course Bristol City devastated Manchester United in the dying moments to book a place in the last four.
Their opponents for the Semi Final are favourites to lift the Carabao Cup, Manchester City who are at 4/6 to be crowned Champions come February. They do have two legs to get through before then however. Here’s our preview of the Carabao Cup Semi Final First legs.
Manchester City v Bristol City
First Leg, January 9, 2018, Sky Sports
Bristol City may have beaten the odds to get past Manchester United in the last round, but that was a one off game and with a full house at Ashton Gate behind them.
Playing Manchester City over two legs, the first being at the Etihad is a whole different prospect.
The Robins, who are flying high in the Championship, have been priced a huge 22/1 for this tie, and we’d be hard pushed to find any reason to put any money on that.
Instead, we’d look towards the markets for backing the League Cup favourites.
It’s likely Guardiola will rest members of his squad, particularly with him complaining about the busy Christmas period. That means players such as Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gündoğan will be sensible options for first goalscorer bets.
We’d expect the Blues to finish this game off within the first leg, but Lee Johnson’s plucky side might give a huge 7,700 travelling fans something to celebrate with a goal.
A 4-1 City win at 14/1 looks a good bet for us, and it’d certainly be worth a Carabao Cup free bet.
Chelsea v Arsenal
First Leg, January 10, 2018, Sky Sports
Both sides have had fairly easy runs to the Semi Final and will meet for the second time in the space of a week when they face off at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
A last minute equaliser from Hector Bellerin meant the spoils were shared in the Premier League, and we’d expect a similarly tight game here. Arsenal will be desperate to go back to the Emirates with a chance of the Final, while Chelsea will be looking to build on their impressive home form and put the game beyond doubt.
A winner here will undoubtedly come down to team selection. With a Final at stake though, we’d expect two strong outfits. Chelsea go into the game as the bookies choice at 4/ 5 and are second favourites to win the Carabao Cup at 11/5.
Arsenal are at 16/5 for the first leg and a draw may be a safe bet at 27/10.
We fancy the Blues to just knick this one however, and taking a 2-1 win into the second leg is our top tip at 7/1.
What will be interesting is if there is any movement in the transfer market. By then, Arsenal could well be without Alexis Sanchez, which will put a huge dent in Arsenal morale and a bigger score could be likely.
Antonio Conte will want to continue a home run of nine wins of 10 going and an unbeaten streak that stretches back to September 30.
