Liverpool have one foot in the last four of the Champions League, heading into tonight’s second leg with a commanding 3-1 lead over Benfica.
Jurgen Klopp’s side outclassed the Portuguese outfit in the first leg at the Estadio da Luz last week, and they should be able to claim another comfortable win in front of their fans at Anfield.
The Reds fought back twice to claim a 2-2 draw against title rivals Manchester City on Sunday as they continue to hunt down trophies at home and abroad.
Reds on the handicap offer value
Liverpool are as short as 1/4 for victory this evening, but a more attractive punting option could be to back them giving up a one-goal start.
The hosts have won eight of their last nine games at Anfield, with six of those wins coming by two or more goals, so a play on them -1 on the handicap could pay dividends, especially when considering Benfica will need to commit players forward as they chase the tie.
Nunez key for Benfica
Darwin Nunez scored in the first leg for Benfica, and although he may struggle to breach the Liverpool defence this evening, it would be no shock to see him having a pop at goal whenever he can.
The Uruguayan is averaging 2.23 shots per match in the Champions League this term, and Benfica’s hitman is willing to pull the trigger in and around the box, plus he’s more than capable of dominating aerially.
He’s landed 10 shots on target in his last six appearances and looks overpriced to land at least two this evening as Benfica chase the tie.
