Chelsea Can Clinch Champions League Football Tonight
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier tips Chelsea to improve on their formidable record against Tottenham and clinch a Champions League place at Stamford Bridge tonight.
This is a massive game that could determine Champions League football for Chelsea next season and job done for interim manager Rafa Benitez. The Blues have not lost at home to Tottenham since February 1990, winning 15 of 22 league meetings since and are in search of a seventh successive home Premier League win that would guarantee at least fourth place.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “Spurs have been reliant on Gareth Bale to dig the team out of trouble and you have to wonder how long it can last. AVB’s side showed against Manchester City what they are capable of when scoring three late goals after being played off the park for the first 75 minutes.
Chelsea have been impressive in the latter part of the season and have tended to laud it over Spurs for the past 20 years or more. I think we can expect more of the same tonight, Chelsea are just a shade of odds-on at 19/20 with Ladbrokes and it’s 8/1 for 2-1 correct score with the same firm.”
Spurs are three points behind Chelsea (38 points) but could leapfrog Arsenal (37 points) into fourth if they win this game in hand. Gareth Bale has scored in each of his last four games and 11 times in his last 11 appearances, making him the obvious dangerman for the visitors.
