City To Come Good In Moscow
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier tips Manchester City to come good in their must-win game against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Manchester City are three points behind Group D leaders Bayern Munich and go into back-to-back games against CSKA knowing they must take six points or risk failing to reach the Champions League knock out stage for the third successive season.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men won’t be too happy about the state of the pitch in Arena Khimki where the poor playing surface reflects CSKA’s poor recent form, they’ve lost five of the last seven.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “Manuel Pellegrini was brought in to improve Manchester City’s record in Europe but the Blues were given another painful lesson by Bayern Munich in the last group game. The match in Moscow has become a must-win for City. They had West Ham chasing shadows on Saturday and can do the same to CSKA who are out of form at the moment.
Paddy Power’s 3/4 for City to win looks fair but CSKA have a habit of conceding early so I’ll go for City to win at Half Time and Full Time at 7/4 with Stan James.”
City began the latest Champions League campaign with a confident show in the 3-0 win against Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic last month. Goalkeeper Joe Hart carried much of the blame for the 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the second group match at the Etihad earlier this month where he was at fault for two of the goals.
CSKA lost their opening group game 3-0 in Munich before defeating Viktoria Plzen 3-2 in St Petersburg on 2nd October. The Champions League win is CSKA’s only success in the last seven games and they go into Wednesday’s game on the back of successive 2-0 defeats in the Russian Premier League.
