Australia’s forthcoming Test tour of India has ravaged the business end of the Big Bash.

The Heat have won six out of seven games and are flying. But the wind has been taken out of their sails by the loss of captain Usman Khawaja, fellow linchpin batters Marnus Labuschagne and Matt Renshaw and leg-spinner Mitch Swepson for this effective semi-final clash.

The Sixers have also been hit by the loss of Steve Smith and Nathan Lyon, but clearly not as badly. At the end of the day, they had to deal without the pair at the start of the competition anyway and excelled.

As a result, I’m afraid I just can’t see a Heat victory here and would be taking the 4/7 with SpreadEx on a victory for the Sixers, who are aiming to bounce back from their weekend Qualifier defeat against Perth and set up a meeting with the same opponents at Optus Stadium in Saturday’s final.

Philippe to come good when it matters

I will be honest, I sometimes offer up suggestions on a hunch and on the basis that players are far better than the results they have been producing.

This bet fits that bill. Josh Philippe, the Sydney wicketkeeper batter to go over 30.5 for 5/6 on Bet365′s player performance market.

He’s not had a great tournament at all at the top of his side’s order, scoring only 250 with two fifties in 15 matches.

But I can see him performing just when it matters.

He will get two good chances to cover this mark, both with the gloves and the bat.

The player performance offers a point a run, 10 per catch and 25 per stumping.

Abbott has aced it - why change?

Sydney Sixers seamer Sean Abbott has had a fantastic tournament. He is its leading wicket-taker with 28, three ahead of Perth’s AJ Tye.

He has already brought us in a couple of winners through the last few months and is set to deliver the suggestion that he would be the Sixers’ top bowler in this edition of the BBL.

His last seven matches have yielded a fabulous 18 wickets, including five three-wicket hauls and a two-for.

Ladbrokes have a trio of bets I like, one of them including Michael Neser’s success for Brisbane. I’ll explain more in a second.

But for now, I would be taking their 1/1 on Abbott to claim over 1.5 wickets in this match and also the 5/2 they have on him to be the Sixers’ top bowler.

While Abbott is the leading wicket-taker with 28, Heat seamer Neser is third on that list with 24, including 13 in his last six matches. That run has seen him take four wickets twice.

Like Abbott, Michael Neser bowls in the key wicket-taking stages - with the new ball and at the end of the innings.

Ladbrokes have price boosted both him and Abbott to take two wickets apiece in this fixture to a juicy 11/2. That, I think, is a fantastic bet.
