Given this preview has been written before Saturday’s double header has been played, it’s not possible to give the exact permutations for top four qualification. But one thing is for sure, Mumbai Indians have to win to keep their title hopes alive.

They sit fifth in the table and level on 14 points with Royal Challengers Bangalore, who hold the all important fourth spot courtesy of a superior net run-rate.

RCB could qualify with a defeat, but they certainly can’t bank on that.

I’m actually going to swerve one result and look for value elsewhere. That’s the RCB-Gujarat fixture. RCB are favourites to win against a Titans side already assured of finishing top and have won three of their last four.

The only reason Bangalore can be favourites is due to this being a dead rubber for Gujarat and with the possibility of resting players.

But I do think they will have to win that game because I see Mumbai keeping up their end of the bargain and beating bottom side Hyderabad. They are a best price of 9/10 with Betway Sports to win, a price I’d be taking.

Mumbai Indians v Sunrisers Hyderabad, Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai (11am)

Runs have been a feature of Mumbai’s recent games, with the Wankhede a high-scoring venue. In the last four games there, there have been six 200 plus totals and nothing below 180.

Despite Sunrisers struggles, they have posted scores of 217-6 and 186-5 in two of their last three games. So I think they should have enough to hold up their part of the bargain in a trio of prices which catch the eye via Betfair’s #OddsOnThat selections.

They have both teams to post 170 plus totals available at 8/5. I would be taking that, as I would the 9/5 on both to score 160 plus and Mumbai to win. I would also be taking the 3/1 on both to post 170 plus and Mumbai to win.

Gujarat opener Shubman Gill has already returned us some cash by passing 500 tournament runs, something posted in our pre-tournament preview back in March.

He scored a stunning century earlier this week in their win over Sunrisers, and there’s no reason to go against him here - especially when he is the subject of a price boost from bet365. They have him at 11/4 to be his side’s top batter in this match. I would be taking that for sure.
