We are into must win territory for the Oval Invincibles men in terms of their title hopes.
They are currently sat two points off Birmingham Phoenix in third place, with this the first of two remaining games. It is a case of win two games and hope for a favour from elsewhere.
The Spirit need to win to maintain their hopes of direct qualification for the Lord’s final next Saturday.
Spirit are a 4/5 favourites with betfair to win a sixth game in seven, while the Invincibles are 6/5 with bet365 to snap a two-game losing streak and win for the fourth time.
I’m going to swerve the result of this one (7pm). I have a hunch for the away side here, but it is nothing more than that and I have seen a couple of other things that interest me.
A pair of 150 plus totals look appetising
Ladbrokes have priced up both teams to score 150 plus at 6/4, which I like the look of.
London Spirit have topped that mark in each of their two home games at Lord’s so far - 156-6 and 160-6 - where there has been a short boundary to the Grand Stand side of the ground in play.
In the last two games, the Invincibles have struggled for top order runs yet have posted totals of 156-6 and 156-5 in defeats. And in the corresponding fixture at the Oval earlier in the competition, the two sides traded totals of 168-7 and 171-6 in a three-run London win.
Let’s hope for Jumpin’ Jacks
Oval opener Will Jacks remains in the hunt for the men’s leading run-scorer having totalled 205 in five innings, something I thought could happen before a ball was bowled.
But, since clattering a stunning unbeaten 108 against the Brave at the Oval, he has posted scores of 11 and four. He is due another score.
I think he’s the Oval side’s outstanding player at present. Some will say Jason Roy, but his form’s been horrible of late.
So I would be more than happy to take a couple of bets on offer with bet365.
The first is the 3/1 on him to score a fifty in the match - it would be his third time to that milestone in the ongoing campaign.
The second is the price boost on the 23-year-old to be his side’s top run-scorer in the match. He is up from 3/1 to 7/2.
Repeat show from Lauren would do just the job
At start of the women’s competition, I suggested Lauren Winfield-Hill’s player performance with bet365 was low at 20.5 over or under in a match against the Northern Superchargers. And she smashed that mark with an excellent 74 at the top of the order.
Now, they have cottoned on and have her at over or under 30.5 at 5/6. But even that is a mark the England fringe wicketkeeper batter has topped in three of four games so far.
So I would be more than happy to go again in this 3.30pm clash.
Remember, it is a point a run, 10 per catch and 25 per stumping.
