Michael Smith to continue winning form at 4/1
It only feels like yesterday that we were revelling in the madness of the 2023 World Darts Championship final.
That historic leg of darting perfection from Michael Smith and Michael van Gerwen has increased the appeal of the sport, and more eyes than ever will be expected to tune into this weekend’s Masters event.
Joe Cullen is the defending champion in Milton Keynes, but it’s Michael Smith who arrives with his tail up following a fantastic run of winning form on the oche.
We’ve taken a look at some of the potential outright bets in the run up to the 2023 Masters.
Michael Smith to win the 2023 Darts Masters at 4/1 with bet365*
Since the European Championship final, where he lost to Ross Smith, Michael Smith has played in five events.
He’s won three of them – the Grand Slam, the World Championship and the Bahrain Darts Masters winning 17 of his last 19 games.
The only people to beat him are Ritchie Edhouse and David Evans and this means Michael Smith is a fantastic shot at 4/1 (with bet365) to win his maiden Masters crown this weekend.
Luke Humphries to win the 2023 Darts Masters at 18/1 with bet365*
Luke Humphries was without doubt the most improved player on the PDC Tour in 2022 but will be looking to convert that form into a major TV title in 2023.
“Cool Hand” is up to number five in the world rankings and is taking part in back-to-back Masters following a second round loss in 2022.
We’re expecting the 27-year-old to fair better this year, but he’ll have to get through one of Chris Dobey or reigning champion Joe Cullen in the last 16 in order to do so.
18/1 with bet365 is a big price for a player that can beat anyone on his day.
An English winner of the 2023 Darts Masters at 7/4 with bet365*
With the way the draw has fallen we are guaranteed an English quarter-finalist at the very least.
There are 12 English representatives in the 24-man field, with five of them seeded in the top 10.
With Michael Smith and Luke Humphries already making up two of our tips, backing an Englishman to win the 2023 Masters at 7/4 with bet365 is a nice side bet.
Michael van Gerwen to reach the final at 13/10 with bet365*
Michael van Gerwen has to deal with Peter Wright, Jonny Clayton and Rob Cross in his quarter if he is to reach a sixth Masters final.
You wouldn’t say that any of that trio are currently playing at the top of their game, so the “Green Machine” is rightly short at 13/10.
World Championship semi-finalist Gabriel Clemens may well be waiting for MVG in the second round if the big German can navigate past Jose de Sousa.
