Darts Players Championship Finals Preview & Betting Tips

The 2022 Darts Players Championship Finals heads to Minehead this weekend and we’re taking a look at the outright markets pre-tournament.

We move from one TV major to another in the world of darts as the winter World Championship gets closer and closer. Check out all the latest World Darts Championship Free Bets.

But first, we head to Butlins, Minehead, for the Players Championship Finals.

64 arrow-smiths will slug it out on the oche for this esteemed title, with Michael Smith considered one of the current men to beat after he scooped his maiden TV title last week at the Grand Slam – backed by us at freebets.com at 12/1!

But there are plenty of stars on show in Minehead with a jumbled draw bracket which could lead to some shocks in the latter stages…

Let’s take a look at a few of the outright markets before play starts on Friday.

Michael Smith to win the Players Championship Finals at 8/1 with bet365

“Bully Boy” Smith has made four TV finals and landed the Grand Slam in 2022, coming to the boil nicely at the end of the calendar year.

Now that he has got that monkey off his back we expect the St. Helens man to kick on and scoop up a few more titles going into 2023.

He’s probably going to have to go through Michael van Gerwen, Dimitri van den Bergh or the in-form Josh Rock to advance in Minehead, but if anyone can on current form, Smith can.

8/1 with bet365 puts him third favourite for the crown behind Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price, but this still provides great value in a player that is throwing so consistently.

Winner to come from 4th Quarter at 7/4 with bet365

We mentioned it above, but the 4th quarter of the Players Championship is littered with talent and in-form players.

You’ve got both finalists from the Grand Slam of Darts – Michael Smith and Nathan Aspinall – as well as the in-form youngster Josh Rock who is turning heads in the PDC.

Throw in six-time winner Michael van Gerwen, James Wade and Dimitri van den Bergh and it’s easy to see why we think this quarter is worth backing at 7/4.

No 9 Dart Finish at the Players Championship Finals at 11/10 with bet365

There have only been two nine-darters (Alan Norris in 2016 & Michael van Gerwen in 2019) in the 14 editions of the Players Championship Finals so we are hedging our bets that there won’t be another this weekend.

It’s been a fruitful year already for the perfect leg.

Seven nine-darters have been hit in 2022 – matching that of 2012 – so to push towards eight before the World Championships could be considered as greedy!

11/10 is a cracking price for something that should still be considered as a freak event on the darts oche.
