England Tip Stands After Polish Farce
After the farce in Warsaw where officials were unable to put on a football match in the rain despite the protection of a state-of-the-art roof, the Poland v England match will be played at 4.00pm today.
The atmosphere at the stadium, which was purpose-built for Euro 2012, will be nothing like expected last night as many of the 55,000 seats will be empty because fans had to return home to England and the far corners of Poland.
None of this changes the tip for the match and England are expected to prove too good for Poland in this key World Cup qualifying Group H game.
Matt Le Tissier says: “Farcical scenes in Warsaw last night but hopefully Roy Hodgson’s men won’t lose focus. Poland will be tougher than San Marino but England have far more quality than the hosts and the 2-0 win for the Three Lions at 9/1 with Stan James looks worth an interest.”
Adrian Bevington has said the FA will look into compensation for the rain-sodden fans who travelled all the way to Poland for nothing. Let’s hope he’s as good as his word and helps take away some of the embarrassment caused to football last night.
