Follow Stats For West Brom Score
Premier League legend Matt Le Tissier has been checking Sky stats before tipping the correct score in the Midlands between West Brom and Aston Villa.
There’s always a special quality to games between the neighbouring clubs who were founder members of the Football League. Saturday marks an extra special occasion as it will be exactly 124 years to the day since they met for the first time in the Football League’s inaugural season.
The Baggies and Villains are at opposite ends of the table which you wouldn’t guess on current form. The home side has lost its last three on the bounce and Villa have managed a draw and four defeats from their last five league games.
Matt Le Tissier tips: “I learned from the Sky Sports stats team that six of the last 13 league games between West Brom and Aston Villa have all been draws but the sevens wins have all been by a 2-1 scoreline. That looks spot on again and BetVictor are again best-priced at 17/2 on a 2-1 home win.”
It may not be Steve Clarke’s style, but the Baggies could do with a kick up the trousers to get them playing as they did in the first half of the season. They’ve not been playing as badly as results suggest, but as proved when Reading came back to beat West Brom from 0-2 down last week, the players have to maintain their standards right up to the final whistle.
Villa’s season goes from bad to worse, an embarrassing loss at League Two Bradford in the Capital One Cup semi final first leg was followed by a home defeat against Southampton last weekend which left Paul Lamberts’ side in the relegation quagmire.
